To familiarise the students with the alphabet; reciting, identifying, and producing the sounds of the individual letters, the letter E was introduced through the story of Ella, who went to the jungle to see an Elephant. Letter recognition and identification through a story with related illustrations enhance the child’s knowledge of letter names and shapes. This acts as a strong predictor of their success in learning to read. Knowing letter names is strongly related to children’s ability to remember the forms of written words and their ability to treat words as sequences of letters.
