To familiarize children with names of various food items, cut outs of common fruits and vegetables like potato, onion, cauliflower, banana, grapes, apple etc. were created by teachers and placed in a basket. Children were made to sit in a circle and the basket was rotated amongst them. When the music stopped, the child picked one a cutout. He/she was then asked to identify the cut out and talk about it with their friends. Children were extremely excited to perform the given task and closely followed all the instruction given by their teachers. They were excited to hold the cut out and shared their own stories about it like i love to eat potato, i don’t eat spinach etc.The activity was an opportunity for children enhance their social skills language skills such oral expression and communicating needs and feelings.
