Educational visits give children an experience away from their regular school environment. Such trips provide an alternative educational opportunity for them. Prideens of grade pre-nursery were introduced to the colour brown. To take experiential learning to the next level and to recapitulate the concept once again, they recently visited a bakery shop.
Before the visit, the teacher introduced Bunny Bear to the class. Bunny Bear shared with children that he eats only brown coloured food item like brown cake, brown chocolate, brown bread, etc. Since he was feeling hungry, teacher took the students to the nearby bakery.
Teachers helped the children to identify brown cookies and muffins among the eatables. The staff of the shop also assisted the kids in collecting brown colour cookies and muffins. Teachers also asked probing questions such as “Where do people go when they need bread or a birthday cake? Where do people go when they want to eat something sweet, like cookies? Where do people go when they want croissants & hot buns for breakfast?” They also talked about colours, texture and flavours of the different bakery products.
The kids were full of eagerness throughout the visit. It was indeed an exciting day for the children as they enjoyed the tasty treats. They had fun spotting all brown coloured objects in the bakery and collecting them in the basket.
