To plant the seed of mathematics in our Prideens, we ensure to introduce the pre-number concept to them in interesting ways. Recognition of numbers supports the development of other number concepts, such as counting. Counting is an important early number-sense skill that students learn through numbers and use to find out ‘how many ?’ Number 2 was introduced to our curious tiny tots through the story of two brothers Peeku and Cheeku, who go to visit their Nani. To further strengthen the symbol recognition and number object correlation, Prideens were engaged in identifying the number and matching them with the correct number of objects. The fine motor skills and creative expression of the Prideens were enhanced through activities like drawing two gifts for Nani, identifying the number and colouring two bananas, modeling numbers and objects with the help of clay, etc. This activity was a step forward towards the subject of mathematics.
