At Mother’s Pride, we know that Number sense is a vital skill that should be taught before children reach kindergarten. By focusing on number sense, we are providing math skills necessary for future concepts and advanced calculations. Number 8 was introduced to our curious Prideens through octopus and spider. Numbers 1 to 7 were reinforced before introducing the new number 8. Children were encouraged to count the legs of octopus and spider. To further enhance the recognition and quantification, children were engaged in activities like making spider using match sticks and clay, forming spider’s web using its eight legs, coloring in the worksheets with the number 8, tracing the numbers, and reciting rhymes like If I had eight legs instead of two. High-quality math education at an early age builds reasoning, which leads to comprehension and critical thinking.
