Mathematics plays a major role in a child’s development and helps children make sense of the world around them. Numbers are an important part of learning for children in the early years, it provides vital life skills. Knowledge of numbers helps children problem solve, measure, and develop their own numeracy and qualification skills. The concept of number 1 was introduced through the story. The exposure to the term 1 was given using one chocolate for one monkey and one ice cream for one teddy. The children were engaged in activities like matching one spoon with one plate, colouring in the symbol of the red one and one car, etc. To enhance fine motor skills and introduce the Prideens to the symbol formation of 1, they were encouraged to create it with clay, trace it using flour, etc.
