Mathematics plays a major role in a child’s development and helps children make sense of the world around them. Numbers are an important part of learning for children in the early years, it provides vital life skills. Knowledge of numbers helps children solve problems, measure, and develop their own numeracy and qualification skills. The concept of the number 1 was introduced through the story. The exposure to term 1 was given using one chocolate for one monkey and one ice cream for one teddy. The children were engaged in activities like matching one spoon with one plate, colouring in the symbol of redone and one car, etc. To enhance fine motor skills and introduce the Prideens to the symbol formation of 1, they were also encouraged to create it with clay, trace it using flour, etc.
