To familiarise the students with the alphabet – reciting, identifying, and producing the sounds of the individual letters and begin tracing the letters, Letter A was introduced following the whole language approach. During the activity, all the four parameters of language development, listening, speaking, reading, and writing, were given equal importance. Prideens enjoyed watching the story of a boy named Addy. To further strengthen the sound-symbol association, the little ones worked their fine motor and cognitive skills by identifying and colouring the letter A and related objects. Introduction of a letter through a story enables the students to relate the letters with concrete objects and understand that letters make sounds and compose words that have meaning, and words are a way of communicating.
