Language development can be easily facilitated by giving children opportunities to imagine in various situations such as extending stories, describing pictures, pretend reading etc. With this objective, our Prideen’s from grade playgroup were engaged in an activity to talk about the pictures they observe. Teachers brought a bag full of different objects and picture cut outs like flowers, vegetables, fruit, animals, birds, means of transport, etc. This bag is then circulated among the children. They each took out an object or picture. They were encouraged to share their observation on the selected object. Children also engaged in random scribbling where they express their thoughts on the chart paper pasted on the wall and thereafter discuss with their peer group about the same. The activity also helped enhance the fine motor skills and social development.
