Fun activities help build thinking skills in young minds and makes learning effective too.
With this belief, children were taken out for a nature walk to a nearby garden to help them understand the concept of heavy and light. Before going to the park, teachers set some ground rules for children. Walking around the garden, children saw different types of leaves, flowers, trees, birds etc. Children love to think concretely. So a beam balance was made using a hanger. The teacher explained them the concepts of heavy and light by showing heavy objects like pebbles and light objects like leaves, feathers etc. Students observed how the scale responded to weights, the way it sank lower on the heavy side and went up on the lighter side. Students were encouraged to experiment with putting small objects on each side of the scales to see which is heavier and which is lighter
Our Prideens were amazed to see the relationship between weight and size. The activity helped build their science understanding and encouraged them to have a blast exploring the world in new ways.
